Top Five Things to Bring to Your Newborn Session

You’re adjusting to all of the exciting changes that come along with welcoming your newborn baby into the world.  The last thing on your mind is what to bring to your baby’s first portrait session.  Luckily, Bundle & Bounce provides almost everything needed for those special first photos.  But there are a few things to pack that will help the session run smoothly.  Here are the top five things to bring to your newborn session.

#5

Snacks

As a new parent, you will be so focused on your little one that sometimes you forget to care for yourself, and that can mean heading out the door without breakfast.  It’s always a good idea to throw a banana or a couple of granola bars into the diaper bag for a boost during your newborn session (especially if you are breastfeeding). I always recommend that you pack snacks the night before, just in case you’re in a hurry to head out in the morning.

#4

Change of clothes for parents

Usually not needed, but definitely comes in handy when you do!  Spit up and accidents happen, and you want to look your best for your baby’s first family photo. This will be especially helpful if you plan on baby being naked during the parent poses.  Bring an extra shirt or dress just in case you need to change. You will be thankful you did!

#3

Pacifier

A pacifier can be a time saving tool during your newborn session. Sometimes baby will wake or fuss while transitioning between poses. Pacifiers can help maintain a smoothly flowing session and prevent a full-on cry.  Some breastfeeding mothers hesitate to use one while baby is still learning to breastfeed- which is a natural and valid concern, but using one a few times during a three hour session is harmless.  A pacifier can save time and allow for more of those adorable poses you’ve been looking forward to.

#2

A bottle

You'll give your baby a full feeding when you arrive to your session, that way baby is happy and sleepy for all of those cute newborn photos. Your baby shouldn't require too many feedings during your session, but sometimes having an extra bottle ready is quick way o soothe baby if they start to fuss during posing. If the pacifier isn't working, maybe your little one just needs to be topped off and the photographer can help with that. We have a bottle warmer ready if it’s needed.

#1

Patience

The most important thing you can bring to your session is patience and a positive mindset. Taking your baby to their first portrait session might have you feeling a little anxious.  Maybe you’re concerned that your baby will cry, or that they won’t sleep through their poses.  These feelings are completely normal, and we can assure you not to worry.  If baby cries- that is ok!  We will soothe and rock baby for as long as is needed so that we can capture those beautiful, sleepy photos.  We allow extra time during your session to ensure baby is happy and taken care of. We specialize in newborn photography and prioritize making your session stress free so that you and your baby can feel at ease.
